PREGOBLIN LOVE LETTERS

Scoring a hat-trick with their brand new single 'Love Letters', South London-based duo PREGOBLIN have removed any shadow of a doubt their their songwriting skills are less than brilliant. Having served as a highlight of the pair's live set for a while now, the recorded version of 'Love Letters' is comparatively understated - doing justice to the poignant lyrics and well-considered instrumentation. Set over a subtly scratchy drum machine, Alex Sebley's characterful vocals are slurred and endearing. Pushed along by a melodic bass line and a series atmospheric synth jabs, Jessica Winter's sickly-sweet vocals add a polished feel to chorus as the pair duet the hook "Fill my inbox with your love letters". Accompanied by an equally ingenious video that parodies Dave Stewart and Vanessa Paradis' cover of 'Walk On The Wild Side', 'Love Letters' is by far a better Valentine's gift than a box of chocolates. -Holly Mullineaux
